MetaCritic indicates JOHN CARTER (52) is the best movie this week, followed by SILENT HOUSE (49) and A THOUSAND WORDS (26). I watched two of this week's new films and enjoyed one but wasn't impressed by the other. Check out the MetaCritic website for additional comments on each film.
Check out Monday's Opening section to see the previews and synopses.
My review of JOHN CARTER (***) will be posted at 7:30 a.m. and A THOUSAND WORDS (*½) at 4:30 p.m. today. Until then, here are reviews of all the films.

- I've spent most of my adult life in film exhibition management, from which I've retired. As a result of my work I've seen thousands of movies over the years and maintain a strong interest in movies and theatres.
